Vallaury, a famous 19th-century architect, designed the Pera Palace and Istanbul Archeological Museum; as well as the Galata Antique Hotel as a mansion for a French businessman in 1881. Once the French family decided to leave Turkey, the ownership of the building changed, and since the 1960?s, the building has been used as a hotel. Galata Antique Hotel has a unique atmosphere, Special Class Rating, 27 rooms decorated in classical Turkish style.
